This is a brilliant connection! Hadn’t thought of that but it totally makes sense! Similar to another comment earlier — I wonder if there is a baseline level of technical skill or proficiency that is required in order for this “higher order” characteristic to come out. Thinking about a sports team — even the team without the roster of all-starts has a relatively high level of skill compared to others. Therefore their teamwork can give them the edge. Similar perhaps to what Daniel Pink notes — that once salary as a concern is taken off the table — the other motivators are allowed to shine through. Thanks for getting me thinking about this.
